Dr. Padma Venkatraman is the author of Born Behind Bars (Parents Magazine Book Club Pick; 100scopenotes Top 5 2021 Book), The Bridge Home, A Time To Dance, Island’s End and Climbing the Stairs). Her books have been released to multiple starred reviews, won many awards (Walter Award, Golden Kite, Boston Authors Club Julia Ward Howe Young Readers Award etc.), secured numerous honors (e.g. ALA Notable, Boston Globe, SLJ, Kirkus, ALA Booklist Best Book) and been shortlisted for several state and international awards. Before becoming an author, Venkatraman was an oceanographer and diversity director.
